Congratulations to Amer 94 sustainable superyacht

 In News

It was great to see the fourth Amer 94 superyacht off the line receive recognition as the winner of the Environment Initiative at the recent IBI METSTRADE Boat Builder Awards for Business Achievement, held in Amsterdam during November.

This example has been constructed from the outset to reduce its environmental footprint throughout its lifetime, which is precisely the aim also of the Clearwater Rating system. The selection of twin Volvo Penta IPS 1350 drives (previously a less efficient triple installation), new lightweight hull construction using more carbonfibre and vacuum infusion and lithium batteries to soak up power from efficient variable speed generators has all contributed to range enhancement and discernible reduced fuel burn. This yacht also incorporates cork decks instead of teak, recycled fabrics, submarine film instead of antifouling and other special eco-friendly measures.

It’s this kind of philosophy, of incremental improvement with small changes becoming large improvements over the lifetime of a boat, that we are very keen to support and encourage here in the Clearwater Rating team.

Feel free to contact us to highlight any examples you are aware of, or are directly responsible for building and we’ll be pleased to highlight them. Or better still, consider assessing them against the Clearwater Rating and benchmark your boat’s environmental performance. Remember it’s free to download our calculator here.
